As part of the upcoming Extinction Rebellion/Climate Resistance Strike Week, September 20 -27, 2019, a coalition of local groups is planning a whole lot of events, including an Interfaith evening of music, prayer, meditation, scripture readings, and small-group discussions, around the topic of anthropogenic global warming and the resulting climate catastrophe.
We’d very much like to invite you, as a concerned religious leader, to attend this event, to invite your congregations, and to participate personally in the liturgies, if you are so inclined.
SEPTEMBER 24, Tuesday, from 7-9 pm, at Peace United Church of Christ, 900 High Street, Santa Cruz, we’re convening FAITH IN OUR FUTURE: A SACRED CONVERSATION.
In this time of deepest existential crisis, how do we keep it together – and keep going?
Is it still in our power to make a better future?
Is it in our power to assure a future at all?
Where will we find the faith to continue?
We want to invite you to devote your last worship service before September 20 to the topic of Climate Change. That can be a daunting task. If you are interested in having a speaker from our group with you for that service, we’d like to offer that.
If you need information about any aspect of global warming, we can help with that. We have many colleagues who are very knowledgeable on the subject who would love to share their knowledge with you. We can provide flyers covering this week of events to be passed out among your congregation that day.
